Great communication is by far our greatest tool in planting a church. My chief role is to ensure our communication is excellent and as faultless as possible. Including keeping everyone in the loop. Of course we face the tension of boring or overwheleming people with too much and frustrating them with too little, but regardless communication is essential.

Great commuication leads to impassionatd ownership

To help with this we have our email list and we frequently SMS and call our team, but the anchor to our communication is Facebook.

Our Facebook Group Is Our Village Square

We have a ‘secret’ (as much as I despise that phrase) Facebook group, which our team all have access to. This page is active everyday as we post prayer requests, information, resources we’ve found, opportunities ahead, encouragement, reminders and so on.

Our Facebook page really feels like the digital equivelant of a village square. It’s the place where everyone is kept up to speed with what is happening.

One area I’ve especially found effective is the 1-2 minute videos. This is where I get to speak directly to our team, to encourage them, cheer them on or convey something that is best conveyed in person.

We’re doing all we can to leverage technology to our benefit, but not replace the humanity we all so desperately need.
